As one embarrassingly expensive popularity contest comes to an end, a new one begins. In honour of the completion of one of the most complex and strangest elections in history, we thought we’d bring it all back to something everyone can comprehend: Favourite movies.
Thanks to the brilliant Roger Ebert for doing the research! Check out his blog here. Everyone should be reading it.
According to John McCain’s Facebook page, his favourite films are Viva Zapata!, Letters from Iwo Jima and Some Like It Hot.
Not bad. Some Like it Hot is pretty safe, but Letters from Iwo Jima is a surprising choice. Who would have thought a 6-year POW would enjoy a movie sympathetic to America’s enemies.
Barack Obama’s Facebook page lists Casablanca, Godfather Parts 1 and 2, Lawrence of Arabia and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
Booooring. I mean, I love the Godfather films like everyone else, but he might as well be reading from an AFI list.
Fun Fact: In an interview with Ebert, Bill Clinton revealed his favourite film was Election. Nice.
